Source integrity means chronology
The early books contain language, judgments, and ideas that differ sharply from current work. Preserving that record does not require pretending nothing changed, and current work should not be used to counterfeit the historical voice.
The correct reading order is chronological and source-aware: historical primary sources for the earlier period, current first-party sources for the present position, and secondary research as interpretation rather than replacement.
