Start with actor, audience and attribution
Terms become clearer when analysis asks who is acting, whom they are trying to influence, whether the source is acknowledged and what institutional authority governs the activity.
A military deception aimed at an opposing commander is not automatically the same category as a foreign social-media interference campaign or corporate astroturfing.
